Trisha Yearwood's Skillet Apple Pie
If your sweet tooth is in need of a sweet treat, this slightly modified Skillet Apple Pie from Trisha Yearwood is guaranteed to hit the spot! This is perfect for Friday night game nights, Saturday cookouts, or, let's be honest, any day of the week. Here's how...
Ingredients:
4 Tbsp unsalted butter (1/2 stick)
1/2 cup light brown sugar
2 refrigerated rolled pie crusts, such as Pillsbury
1 (21oz) can apple pie filling
2 teaspoons cinnamon sugar
1 Tbsp for melted butter for top.
Directions: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Melt the 1 /2 stick of butter in a 9-inch cast iron skillet. To the melted butter, add the brown sugar and melt them together on medium heat, for about 2 minutes. Remove from the heat then line the skillet with one of the pie crusts. Pour the apple pie filling over the crust and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of the cinnamon sugar. Use the second pie crust to cover the filling. Brush the top with 1 tablespoon of melted butter, then evenly sprinkle the remaining 1 tablespoon of cinnamon sugar on top. Cut vents in the middle of the pie. Bake for 30 - 35 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly and then serve.
